With the monsoon soon to hit the country, this season is the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes, which in turn are the root causes of the disease.

The Causative Agent

  • Aedes mosquitoes are responsible for the spread of the disease, especially female Aedes mosquitoes.
  • They are active during the daytime and bite in the morning, late after and/or evenings.
  • They acquire the virus when feeding blood off an infected person.


After the incubation period, symptoms start showing up. Some of the symptoms include –

  • Headache
  • Sudden onset of fever
  • Rash
  • Abnormal bleeding

The diagnosis of dengue involves two important tests –

  • And serological test

There are several complications that arise due to the onset of dengue. If you feel any of these, you should immediately consult a doctor.

  • Cold, clammy skin
  • Dry mouth
  • A weak rapid pulse
  • Reduced flow of urine
  • Fast breathing
