From the day I got my license, I started charting out plans for road-trips. I would always make a plan or two with my friends and somehow, our schedules would not allow us to leave. Finally, after almost half-a-decade of planning and plotting – I got a chance to go for a ride. This was a sweet and sour moment. Sweet because I now had a much better bike. Sour because the meeting point for all the riders of the club was in a neighboring city. I told myself – that’s good news; I get to go on a mini-road trip before we leave for the actual road trip! Let me break the suspense already – it was not a great idea.

In the middle of the highway, my bike broke down. I pulled out the ‘mechanic’s kit’ from my backpack and tried everything I could think of. The queen of the road did not even respond. Finally, I had to call one of the guys from the club who came all the way to the spot and helped me out. As I started thanking him, he asked me one question – why on earth haven’t you got yourself a roadside assistance plan? And that’s when it dawned on me – because I was ignorant!

I have subscribed for a full-fledged Roadside Assistance Services. This is because now the world is my oyster. I can literally ride in any terrain without a wrinkle of worry on my forehead. I know – that help is literally just a call away. Entirely based on the experience of a driver who never thought of getting a roadside assistance plan and now is thankful to the universe for the existence of this service. Here are the top reasons why I believe a roadside assistance plan is critical for all two-wheelers.

Importance Of Roadside Assistance:

You’re not the doctor of your bike.

I have seen professional engineers and the smartest of men in our biking club fail while trying to repair their bikes and scooters (Yes, some people come to the club meetings on scooters!). The reason for this is – when you have problems with your phone, you give it to a professional for getting it fixed. Then, why do you have to take things in your own hands when it comes to your two-wheelers?

Two-wheelers have to be fixed the right way. Sometimes, even if you are able to get the vehicle running, it might not be entirely safe to ride it. Thus, do yourself and your family a favor – and subscribe to a roadside assistance service.

You cannot carry all the necessary equipment with you all the time.

One of my neighbors is an avid bike collector. He owns this 1965 bike that was also a part of the Indian Army for a while. I am pretty sure, because he keeps bragging about it, that no one in the city can fix his bike – except him. Now, he obviously hasn’t tested this theory but he is smart enough to have subscribed to a roadside assistance plan. Because he understands – it is impossible to carry all the necessary tools on all your rides. For instance – you cannot carry the tools you may need for bike wheel alignment, all the time.

Think about it this way – you have to call for an ambulance at times because you can’t carry an emergency room with you. This is the exact reason why your bike needs a roadside assistance service!

Your bike deserves the service.

A whole lot of mechanics are really good with their jobs. I have personally seen some of them work very hard to repair my vehicle. That said – this does not guarantee the fact that they will be able to repair my bike. Taking care of a machine is a straightforward task which requires a standardized approach. Roadside assistance is generally sold by organized businesses who have a very standardized approach that almost assures a repair when you need it the most!

In Conclusion

I am a biker. And the sole reason I got the roadside assistance service is that I love my bike. That said and done, I do recommend it to people around me because it gives them peace of mind and assures them that they will always get professional assistance when they need it the most!
