While chronic headaches require immediate medical attention, you can get relief from the regular ones using some natural headache remedies at home.

As a freelancer, it gets quite difficult at times to explain to my clients regarding a delay in submission. Many times I had to let a lucrative opportunity pass me by, as I was down with a bad headache. It was then I decided that I should do something about it.

I looked up non-invasive ways to get relief from headaches faster, without popping pills, on the internet and came across a plethora of effective suggestions. I tried them out, one by one, and got immense benefits from some of them that I wish to share with you all.

Natural Remedies for Headaches:

Reduce lighting in your room

Sometimes, you’ll notice that your headache increases on being exposed to bright lights. You should dim the lights in your room, or if you’re in the office, move to a spot, where the lights are a minimum. If you’ve migraine, you are likely to be more sensitive to lights and sound in your vicinity so take appropriate measures to reduce both.

You can also apply a cold pack on your forehead for 15 minutes and set it aside for another 15 minutes. This one of the most effective headaches remedies at home that you can try. Do it repeatedly to notice an improvement. If you don’t have an ice pack, you can use a packet of frozen peas or ice-cold water in its place.

Don’t chew on gum for the moment

Avoid chewing on anything, gummies or candies, or even your fingernails for that matter. This not only hurts your jaws but also increases your headache. Stay away from crunchy, sticky food for the time and drink as much water as you can.

If you have a habit of grinding your teeth while you sleep, consult your dentist about getting a mouth guard to get rid of early-morning headaches. Moreover, try to avoid stress and anxiety, as they may lead to headaches as well.

Limit your alcohol intake

Your headaches may be a result of chronic alcoholism, which has serious health consequences. All those office parties and corporate events may involve binge drinking, but you should do your best to avoid them.

When I used to work in the corporate, I suffered from early morning headaches quite frequently. My doctor advised me to avoid places, where drinking is considered fashionable and trendy.

Although I couldn’t completely avoid those parties and events, I refrained from drinking and politely refused anyone, who offered me a glass. Take my advice – no one can force you to drink if you don’t want to. However, you should avoid going to such places altogether if you can’t restrain yourselves.

Focus on your sleep patterns

As a workaholic, I used to pay less attention to my sleep and slept only when I felt my entire body collapsing due to fatigue. Sometimes, I also went without sleep for as long as 24 hours at a stretch.

According to my GP, this was one of the dangerous habits I was nurturing, which was also a cause of my frequent headaches. So I would request you to focus on your sleep patterns and get minimum 6-7 hours of sleep as one of the best natural headache remedies every night. You will notice the difference within a few weeks.

Wrapping it up

The causes of headaches can be many, but if you’re quite healthy apart from those pestering headaches every once in a while, the aforementioned tricks could help you avoid them.

Don’t let your bumping head interfere with your goals and ambitions in life, because they can. I lost a great deal of money once, as I couldn’t submit a project on time. Take it from me and get rid of those headaches as soon as possible.
